Three-Time Olympic Gold Medalist Announces Comeback

Douglas Aims to Make History as Oldest All-Around Medalist

Douglas, who turns 29 this year, posted on Instagram on Thursday to announce her return to gymnastics. The decision marks a significant comeback for the decorated athlete, who has not competed since the 2016 Rio Olympics.

During her illustrious career, Douglas became the first African American woman to win the individual all-around gold medal in gymnastics at the Olympics. She also won a team gold at the same games, and previously won two golds at the 2012 London Olympics.

If Douglas manages to win another all-around gold, she would become the oldest female gymnast to win the event since 1972. The challenge is immense, but Douglas is determined to make history once again.
